Located in Datangshan Town, Changping District of Beijing, the Chinese Aviation Museum stands as Asia’s largest repository of aircraft relics. Encompassing over 1,000 acres, this expansive museum boasts a collection of more than 200 aircraft spanning over 100 types, alongside over 700 examples of weapons and equipment, including surface-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft artillery, air defense radar, aerial bombs, and aerial cameras.
Visitors to the Chinese Aviation Museum are treated to a comprehensive exploration of aviation history, from precious vintage aircraft to modern marvels. Among the notable exhibits are the 99 Advanced Trainer Aircraft, Boston, IL-10, Yak-17, and F-12, offering insights into the evolution of aerial technology.
Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by a striking 30-foot (9-meter) high pillar adorned with a white single-seat light fighter plane, creating a dynamic impression of flight. Nearby, the “Soul of Heaven” monument, crafted from black granite sourced from Mount Taishan, serves as a poignant tribute to aviation heritage.
The Chinese Aviation Museum is organized into three main exhibition areas: the Cavern Exhibition Hall, Open-air Exhibition Area, and Integrated Hall, each offering a unique perspective on the rich legacy of aviation.
