From June 2014, Mutianyu Section of the Wall start to use their new entrance ,from there everyone have to walk around 5 minutes through the arket to the shuttle bus, and take their shuttle bus to the foot of the Great Wall. This will waste at least half an hour on the road, so if you want the tour more relax please choose the Mutianyu Great Wall Day Tour, combine two sites in one day only allow tourists to spend certain time at each site.

Despite the hundreds of buses that visit daily, the Great Wall at Mutianyu is not as crowded as the nearby Badaling or Juyongguan sections of the Wall. Mutianyu’s 2.5 kilometer stretch of the Wall allows you to walk for more than an hour as you explore 23 watchtowers and the valley on both sides of the Wall.

Depart your hotel at 8:30am
Heading to the Great Wall at Mutianyu section.It take about 1 hour and half to arrive,Once arrive at the The Mutianyu Great Wall,you’ll enjoy a less hurried experience and take time to marvel at this wondrous structure and the surrounding hillsides that look north toward Mongolia.The Mutianyu Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings – dense woods and rich pastures changing colors with the seasons of the year. Built mainly from granite, the pass at Mutianyu is an appropriately unique section of the Great Wall. 7 to 8 meters high, and 4 to 5 meters high with crenellations on both sides of the Wall, the section of the Wall at Mutianyu stretches for over 2 kilometers.
Mutianyu is a bit more rugged and slightly less crowded than the more famous Badaling. Over 96% of Mutianyu is covered by trees and orchards, keeping the air fragrant with chestnut blossoms in the spring and fresh all year long.
Stop at a Local Restaurant for lunch
Visit the Red Snail Temple,once arrive here you will have your own time to explore this interesting temple.Obviously with a name like “Red Snail Temple”, there must be an interesting story behind the name. According to the local legend, there were two giant red snails that lived on the side of the mountain where the temple was eventually built. Apparently these were some kind of alien snails as they supposedly emitted strange lights at night, which led the local villagers to pay homage to these giant red snails. The mountain become known as Red Snail Mountain, and the temple itself, which was originally known as Great Brightness Temple, was eventually given its current name of Hong Luo Si, or Red Snail Temple.
