15 Days Visa-free Policay for Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Slovenia

In order to enhance cultural exchanges between Chinese and foreign individuals, China has made the decision to broaden its visa exemption policy. Effective from October 15, 2024, until December 31, 2025, citizens holding ordinary passports from Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Slovenia will have the opportunity to enter China without a visa for purposes such as business, tourism, family visits, or transit for a maximum of 15 days. Individuals who do not meet the criteria for visa exemption will still be required to obtain a visa before entering China.

The National Immigration Administration has announced that as of July 15, 2024, the 144-hour visa-free transit policy will be implemented at Zhengzhou Airport in Henan Province. Travelers will be limited to staying within the administrative region of Henan Province. Additionally, the scope of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Yunnan Province will be expanded to include the administrative regions of nine cities (prefectures): Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Puer, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan.
Furthermore, three new ports of entry have been added for the 144-hour visa-free transit policy: Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, and the Mohan Railway Port. This expansion aims to facilitate easier travel for visitors to these regions and promote tourism and economic growth.
The National Immigration Administration has currently implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy at 37 ports of entry across China. These ports include major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu, among others.
Citizens from 54 countries, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, who hold valid international travel documents and have confirmed tickets for a connecting journey within 144 hours can take advantage of this policy. They are allowed to transit through these designated ports without a visa and stay for up to 144 hours. During their stay, they can participate in various activities such as tourism, business, visiting friends and family, as long as they adhere to the established visa exemption agreements or unilateral visa-free policies.

The 144-hour transit visa-free policy in Guangdong Province has been recently updated to include four additional exit ports. In addition to the existing 32 ports where the policy applies, travelers can now also utilize the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Rail West Kowloon Station port, the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Liantang Port in Shenzhen, and the Pazhou Port in Guangzhou.
