For the first time, the Palace Museum has opened a green channel for tourists who book their tickets in advance on the Internet and by phone, which means that they can get quicker access into the museum instead of queuing in front of the check-in office, according to a Beijing Times report.
As the real-name ticketing system is implemented, an increasing number of people are choosing to book tickets online.
From June 27 to July 2, more than 51,000 people chose to buy their tickets online, accounting for just over 20 percent of total ticket sales.
The museum also suggests tourists avoid peak hours from 10 am to 1 pm and not to crowd around in the central areas of the palace.
