We had a 15-hour layover in Beijing on our trip, and contacted Mr. Wang Chen a few weeks before. He was very quick to respond and addressed all my questions sufficiently-- and I had a LOT of questions over a series of emails. He prepared an itinerary for us that included Tian'amen Square, the Forbidden City, and a visit to Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. We expected to get out of the airport at 6 am, but came out around 5:45 am. He was already there waiting for us. Nothing seemed to be opened yet so he took us to a little eatery he frequents for some delicious, authentic Chinese breakfast. After that he handed us over to Becky, who is very well-informed and fun tour guide/impromptu photographer for us. 🙂 Also worked as impromptu crisis manager since my husband and I couldn't agree on whether to see the hutongs or not (she took us there for a quick look-see instead of a complete tour, as a compromise). Smiles all around again. The Great Wall tour was unforgettable. Funny historical notes from Becky involving smoke signals using wolf dung and other stories. We hiked for about 2 and a half to 3 hours, and tobogganed down. I highly recommend this outfit and would use it again next time for other attractions I've missed in this short layover.

We emailed discover beijing tour company based on the feedback from tripadvisor. They responded quickly and at all hours. They were very helpful in trying to meet our requirements for our 3 night trip to Beijing. We were two families travelling with 4 children aged 1,3,8,10. They arranged for us to have Becky ( cheng Ruijie) as our guide. She was fantastic. Very good at telling us the best locations / advice for sightseeing with the kids. We went to the Great Wall Mutiyang area one day with a very safe driver. And they were prepared to show us more sights of the city but our kids were tired so they showed us a quick tour of Olympic park and hutong area in the way back to our hotel. The next day tianamen square and forbidden city. We wanted to do it using public transport and Becky helped us get the buses and gave us lots of information about the sights we saw. She was very knowledgeable and her English was great. Becky also took us to eat in the Hutong and showed us around the lake area which was lovely. Thank Becky!!!!

We visited Beijing in the first week of June. We are Singaporean Chinese and can speak Mandarin well so many find it funny why we would engage an English-speaking tour guide for our trip. We planned our holiday to Beijing as a sort of “Chinese immersion” trip for our son who only started learning Chinese formally this year. We wanted an English-speaking tour guide to engage and interest our 7-years-old boy and introduce the Great Wall to him because the Great Wall day trip was the “highlight” of the holiday for him. We visited the other sites like temple of heaven, forbidden city, local hutongs without a guide on our own.

From the beginning, Qing has been very helpful in answering our queries on email and giving us advice. She assigned Becky to bring us to the Great Wall and our boy really loved her company and had a great time on the Great Wall. He was ill during the trip and Becky and our driver brought us around the city to try to buy western medicines for him – we are very thankful and appreciative of that after having met no success at the numerous local pharmacies around our hotel who declined to sell us paediatric western medicines without a prescription.

Becky was great with our boy and managed to engage and involve him during the trip even though he was a little bored with seeing palace after palace and grew tired after climbing on the Great Wall. She patiently waited for him to climb up and down each tower. He even wrote about her in his holiday journal!

The next day, the same driver brought us out to Longqing Gorge – a really nice scenic place where we could have a leisurely cruise, did a little hiking and had a nice picnic on a rock overhang. It is a nice place to bring young children and to see something different – for our boy it was a nice change of scene after several days of historical visit to temples, palaces. He had fun riding up the dragon escalator, river cruise, rowing a small dinghy boat with daddy and taking a cable car ride and short toboggan slide down.

Becky is thoughtful, attentive and focused on client’s needs, our driver was very friendly and drove safely. Qing was very sincere in helping us meet our needs during our tour and even offered advice for visits to sites which we did on our own – she wasn’t obliged to help us with that but she still went out of her way to do so. We’re glad to have met them and will recommend their services to others who are visiting Beijing with young children.

I cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had recently on a day-long tour with DBT. Becky, our tour guide was fantastic! I’ve done a lot of tours in a lot of cities, and never have I gotten such a customized experience at an affordable price. Becky spent the drive to the Wall filling us in on Chinese history, and answered all of our questions and then some. She even translated our names into Chinese, and had a lot to share about everyday life in China which was SO interesting! So friendly and so helpful, Becky really made the day enjoyable. The Wall was even more amazing than I could have imagined. What a surreal experience to be in such a unique place! On the way, we expressed interest in some other City sites, so Becky made sure (without rushing us!) that we were able to do everything on our list. Having her and our amazing driver Mr. Wong made the day seamless and so enjoyable. I INSIST you try this tour company for any of your Beijing needs. I was so impressed with every aspect of the day. 100% worth every penny!!!

My boss and I were in Beijing for a work conference with one real day to hit the Great Wall and a few other “Must See” sights on our list. We heard about DBT from another colleague and immediately booked. The process was smooth, fast and easy. We were accommodated in short notice and given Becky’s name as our guide almost immediately.

When Becky arrived to pick us up that morning (prompt and on time might I add) we instantly fell in love with her. Her english was near perfect and she was extremely approachable, charming, sweet and funny to name a few of her traits. She had printed handouts of China’s history that she eloquently went over on our 2 hour drive to the Great Wall. She also had great Chinese cheat-sheets on the language for clueless Americans to learn. It felt like any question we asked, she knew the answer.

Moreover, we picked a standard “Full Day Great Wall Tour” but ended up craving more to see than just that. While this was not part of our “deal”, Becky never hesitated in extending our day and even custom creating special stops along the way. She took us to Old Beijing, got us a Rickshaw ride to an old home, scored us a private tea tasting and took us to an amazing authentic lunch to name a few! We loved that every part of our day felt special, unique and not overly touristy. So many places matched her stories of the amazing, romantic tapestry that is Beijing as a city.

I can’t recommend DBT and Becky as a guide enough! She MADE our trip and we haven’t been able to stop talking about her!! Thank you so much!

Our 3-days Beijing trip with Discovery Tours ended only minutes ago and I thought I must immediately write a commendation for Becky. Our group comprises of myself and my parents, one 70 and the other 65. Becky took care of my parents’ needs and was attentive and considerate throughout the trip. When the temperature was cooler, Becky suggested that we visit those sights first as there would be lots of walking involved and my parents have weak knees. My dad says she is faultless, Bravo, Becky!! 好评!

My wife and sister did the initial planning so I can’t speak to that.. Once we met our tour guide Becky and started our 2 day tour around Beijing, everything went smoothly. Both days Beck and the driver arrived on time each morning and took us to various spots – Forbidden City and Great Wall split to 2 separate days with other sites scattered in there. Becky was very knowledgeable in explaining the culture and history around Beijing. She was also very persistent in dealing with the guards at Tienanmen Square and got us through long lines at the security check points very quickly. She basically helped with whatever we needed of her – getting tickets, negotiating rickshaw prices at Hutong, picture taking and etc.

Both days Becky took us to some local places to have lunch which were tasty and reasonably priced. The driver was always there to pick us up when we were done. More importantly, he got us safely through the streets of China with our entire party (4 adults, 2 children).

Bottom line is we could not have had a smoother experience sight see in Beijing (we used a similar service in Chengdu as well). Both Becky and the driver were very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend Becky and their services. Thanks again!

Beijing Tours fully deserve their reputation. My guide was Becky, and she did an outstanding job showing me around the Forbidden City, the Hutong area, the markets, the shops around the lake and the Olympic ‘bird’s nest’ Stadium in a compact 7 hour ride. Her English was excellent and she was patient to explain every question irrespective how ignorant that might have been. The organization was excellent and the driver (Qing’s husband!) was kind and on-time. The visit to the Hutong and Qing’s family home was one of my top points. I highly recommend them!

Discover Beijing Tours showed us a wonderful time in Beijing. Our tour guide Becky was fabulous – her English was very good; her knowledge was excellent and she was great with our kids. Our drivers were also very good and helpful.
